Product Description
Sennheiser MKH 8070 Moisture-Resistant Long Shotgun Microphone
Overview
The 18" long Sennheiser MKH 8070 moisture-resistant shotgun microphone is purpose built for focused, top-tier audio capture in high-pressure outdoor environments such as sporting events and broadcast production. With extreme directivity, drastically low self-noise, and ultrahigh sensitivity, the MKH 8070 delivers professional sonic performance that's ready for mixing.
This shotgun microphone exhibits a pronounced lobar polar pattern, ensuring a consistently narrow focus and transparent, undistorted off-axis tone. Its wide frequency response, transformerless output, and high SPL handling let you record the action with uncompromised clarity.
Performs in Adverse Environmental Conditions
When your work takes you outdoors, you're bound to encounter humidity and condensation, which can cause many mics to fail. The MKH 8070's RF circuit design makes it highly immune to moisture, allowing you to reliably capture high-quality audio in normal and adverse environmental conditions.
Professional Sound Quality
Offering the same sonic signature as Sennheiser's other 8000-Series microphones, the MKH 8070 was engineered with the experienced professional in mind. Its 45 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response incorporates a gentle rise above 2 kHz to increase intelligibility and a natural bass roll-off to mitigate rumble. Its extremely low self-noise of 8 dBA and ultrahigh sensitivity of -19 dB enable studio-worthy signal purity without requiring noise reduction and gain boosting in postproduction.
Phantom Powered
The MKH 8070 boasts a transformerless and fully floating balanced output for optimal signal integrity. Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 44 to 52 VDC phantom power, the MKH 8070 is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.
Digital Compatibility
When used with the optional MZD 8000 digital module, the MKH 8070 becomes a digital microphone that outputs AES42 signal at up to 24-bit / 192 kHz resolution and allows remote control of DSP functions such as low-cut filtering and attenuation.
Ideal for Boompole Mounting
The MKH 8070's metal body features a nonreflective Nextel coating to prevent distracting visual reflections. Mount the MKH 8070 directly on a stand or boompole using the supplied mic clip, or place it in the separately available Sennheiser MZS 20-1 combination shockmount, pistol grip, and stand adapter to prevent the transfer of vibrations to the microphone.
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The MKH 8070 has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Sennheiser MZW 80-1 blimp-style windshield (available separately and requires the MZS 20-1 pistol grip).
