A note on MicroLite NIC cards:
- LMS95 supports two basic network configurations: Local and Remote. Local networks are the most common, involving lighting control panels that are in the same facility as the computer and communicate to LMS95 through a NIC (Network Interface Controller) card installed in the computer. The NIC card is not required for any of the three types of remote networks: remote (modem), Direct Connect, and TCP/IP. In a remote modem network, LMS95 communicates with the site via a modem connection. Remote modem networks typically communicate to multiple locations – for example, a central office may control lights for several regional locations. A site configured for Direct Connect operation allows the administrator to completely program the database from a computer running LMS95, then upload the network from Panel 1. Direct Connect does not require a central PC running LMS95 to be connected to the network at all times. However, any configuration and monitoring requires an administrator level user to physically connect a laptop computer to Panel 1.
