Product Description
Leviton Colortran EEprom Memory Card. Limited Edition. Part #CTP-LEC-1981-2.
Leviton (Colortran's parent company) discontinued the manufacturing of the Leviton Colortran EEprom memory card (Leviton Part Number CTP-LEC-1981-2 (new style)) around 2010. This is a special manufacturing run of this part by Leviton Manufacturing. As such, this memory card is available in limited quantities until the stock is depleted.
The Leviton Colortran EEprom memory card is used in the Colortran Viewpoint architectural control system and in the Colortran Status lighting console. If you are currently using the Colortran Viewpoint architectural control system or a Colortran Status lighting console then an EEprom memory card will be quite useful for your lighting system. (Please note - these systems are found frequently in school auditoriums, churches, and public institutions).
When you program a Colortran Viewpoint architectural control system and/or a Colortran Status lighting console you can save the programming to a Colortran EEprom memory card. With Colortran Viewpoint architectural control system (but not the Colortran Status lighting console) you also have the option of saving programming to a computer with Windows 95 operating system with serial connection (this is the only type of operating system that is compatible). If you do not back-up your programming to one of these sources (memory card or Windows 95 computer), then any one of several errors or acts of nature can cause all system programming to be lost, thus resulting in the need to reprogram the system entirely, by hand. (Please note - the Colortran Status lighting console can ONLY be backed-up by eeProm memory card and can not use a Windows 95 back-up).
Please note that the memory card can only hold one file. So, if you have both a Viewpoint architectural control system and a Colortran Status lighting console then you would need two memory cards installed in the system to back-up both of these components. We also do encourage clients to have an extra memory card on hand in case the original memory card becomes lost or damaged.
The Leviton Colortran EEprom memory card allows the system memory to be saved (backed-up) so that if system memory is lost then it can be quickly re-loaded using the memory card. System memory can be lost by static shock, power surges, storms, user error, incorrectly saving memory changes, low battery levels, multiple user error, and other issues. With the Leviton Colortran EEprom memory card, you simply upload the programming information back into your system and all previous programming will be recalled. If you don't have a back-up on memory card or Windows 95 computer (Windows 95 computer back-up option applies only to Colortran Viewpoint architectural control systems and not to Colortran Status lighting console) then you will need to reprogram the system manually.
The most commonly discussed alternative to a Colortran EEprom memory card is upgrading a Leviton Colortran Viewpoint system to a newer system, typically a Leviton D8000 architectural control system, which automatically backs up and saves programming memory. An upgrade to Leviton D8000 architectural control system can cost several thousand dollars (depending on the exact number and type of control system components specified within your system).
Leviton Colortran EEprom memory card will include a one-year Knight Sound & Lighting replacement warranty. These cards can last anywhere from 1 year to 10 years depending on acts of nature (power strikes, power surges can destroy memory cards), normal wear and tear, lossage (the cards are little and are frequently lost).
This is a special manufacturing run. When the Colortran EEprom memory cards run out of stock, then we will not be able to fulfill any more orders.
