Can LED fixtures work with older dimming systems?
Yes—but not always seamlessly. Many legacy dimming systems were designed for incandescent lighting, and not all LED fixtures respond the same way. We help identify LED options that are compatible with your existing system to avoid issues like flickering or dropouts.
Do I need to replace my entire lighting system to upgrade to LED?
In many cases, no. We specialize in retrofitting existing systems to work with LED technology, allowing you to modernize your lighting without the cost of a full system replacement.
What problems can occur when using LEDs with older systems?
Common issues include flickering, limited dimming range, ghosting (lights not fully turning off), and inconsistent performance. These problems are usually caused by compatibility mismatches between fixtures and control systems. We can help prevent (or correct) these issues with LED's that appear to be incompatible with older dimming and control systems.
Can you retrofit outdated relay or control systems?
Yes. We regularly work with older relay and control systems, providing upgrades or integration solutions that improve reliability while maintaining as much of your existing infrastructure as possible.
Do you work with specific lighting control brands or legacy systems?
We have experience with a wide range of legacy systems, including dimming systems like Colortran, Strand, EDI and others as well as relay systems like PCI, Leviton Z-Max, Z-Max+ and EZMax, ILC LightMaster and ILC Apprentice. Our team is equipped to repair, retrofit, and integrate these systems with newer technologies.
