How to choose the correct outdoor speaker for my application?

There are a lot of options when choosing an outdoor speaker, also referred to as a landscape speaker or weather-resistant speaker. Some deciding factors include price, sound quality, and technical specifications. Here are some product recommendations and information around identifying the proper connectors or accessories for your landscape or outdoor speakers.

Compact Column Array Speaker – All Weather Design – 2 Way Speaker

The Community ENT212 is an all-weather column line array. It excels in noisy environments – gymnasiums, and other athletic venues, auditoriums, houses of worship, jazz and folk music clubs, corporate AV presentations, and more. This speaker is available in black or white. The pan-tilt mounting bracket is supplied with the speaker.

Amplifier to Drive the Compact Column Array Speakers

If you are using an amplifier to power your speaker, you will need an amplifier capable of 352-650 Watts at 8 ohms for the speaker(s). If you purchase two speakers, then you will want a dual amplifier, if you are running a stereo system.

As an example, you could use the Dynacord L1300FD-US DSP 2x650W power amplifier.

Exterior Rated Subwoofers

We offer some exterior rated subwoofers, however, there is some increase in cost due to the exterior rating.

The Community IS6-112WR is a 12-inch Subwoofer that is rated for 700 watts and is weather resistant. This subwoofer is well-suited for applications such as houses of worship, auditoriums, restaurants, meeting rooms, corporate A/V systems, arenas, stadiums, theaters, or any other applications requiring extended low-frequency response. This subwoofer will go down to 39Hz and up to 150Hz.

Weather Resistant Speakers that Handle Lower Notes

The Electro-Voice EVID 6.2 speakers are a great alternative and are sold in pairs. We have used the EVID 6.2 speakers successfully in numerous applications. They are a point source speaker, instead of a column array speaker. This means that their pattern of audio is broader as it leaves the speaker at a 100 horizontal and 80 vertical. However, they are designed to work from 62Hz to 20KHz.

Landscape Speakers

The Atlas Sound ROCKFA62T-BR is an all-weather outdoor speaker with natural rock aesthetic. System components consist of a highly efficient 6" woofer section and 1⁄2" PEI (polyetherimide) dome high frequency tweeter. An internal 32 watt 70.7V / 100V transformer is terminated to a 24" direct burial rated pigtail that includes conductors for all transformer taps including a 1:1 connection for 8Ω operation. In an effort to enhance vocal and musical clarity in multi-speaker outdoor systems, the Atlas Sound ROCKFA62T-BR is optimized to complement the Atlas Sound FAP62T (for under eave mounting) and the SM63T for on the wall deployment in outdoor high quality sound systems.

The Atlas Sound GSS-G is an all-weather outdoor speaker with a short base. The speaker is a coaxial 8", polypropylene/kevlar cone with rubber surround, 1.5" voice coil, 21 oz. magnet and a 1/2" mylar dome tweeter. The GSS-G Garden Speaker base even has a protective cover to keep debris out during construction. Inside the enclosure is a durable 8" coaxial speaker with a great sounding 360-degree horizontal dispersion pattern.

The Atlas Sound GST-G is an all-weather outdoor landscape speaker with a tall base. The speaker is a coaxial 8", polypropylene/kevlar cone with rubber surround, 1.5" voice coil, 21 oz. magnet and a 1/2" mylar dome tweeter. The AtlasIED GST-G is designed to blend into any environment. This model includes a deep base for in-landscape burial. The two-piece design allows for a two-phase installation. In phase one, the base is installed. Phase two, after initial construction is done, the system contractor can return to install the speaker/transformer.
